Burlesque Tsunami is producing a collection of wearable art during 2021-2024

 based on Faery-energy.

The collection consists of 20 costume sets. Burlesque Tsunami started the design process in spring 2021 as a FUUSIO LEARNING collaboration with HELSINGIN KUVATAIDELUKIO (Upper secondary school focusing on visual arts).

Two groups of students produced fashion sketches and digital textile visualizations rooted in ancient Finnish mythology of Kalevala. Based on these plans Burlesque Tsunami produces a congruent World of Faeries.

The concept of Faeries is planned to be mystically and and deeply brought to life as an exquisite contemporary multi-art presentation within the fashion industry:

The presentation will combine dance, fashion, video art and music in an energetic way drawing its’ roots from the Finnish womanhood.

The dance collaboration is produced with LAURA PIETILÄINEN, who is among top 20 choreographers in Europe.

Burlesque Tsunami outfitted the rapper ADIKIA for her "Niket" -single promotion video in spring 2021. The accessories consisting of a harness and customized footwear, were made using old Nike AF1 sneakers collected from Adikia's fanbase.

The design of the outfit is based on the character Tuonelan Tyttö (Daughter of Tuonela) depicted in the tarot cards inspired by the Finnish mythology of Kalevala (Susanna Salo: Ukon Pakka -Kalevalainen tarot. Salakirjat 2017).

Finnish leading music magazine RUMBA published an article where the outfit and the unique process of making the accessories were presented.

R3TURN OF THE UNICORNS

Co-creative collaboration project in 2019

The R3TURN OF THE UNICORNS is an exciting collection and a state-of-the-art test-bed for a co-created, communal and inclusive fashion brand with social impact. *

The Burlesque Tsunami collection was co-created among nearly 40 participants with differing educational backgrounds taking part in the workshops: Pupils from elementary school, vocational students and students from universities of applied sciences. Also fashion designers in their early careers, a young visual artist and third sector actors from Kontula D-station.

A brilliantly new way of learning, the Fusion-Learning-Method was launched together with the Burlesque Tsunami fashion collection at Helsinki Fashion Week in 21.7.2019, the world's leading fashion week in sustainable design.

The platform behind the collection was created with the service design architects of EtMay and the platform concept was also refined in the SITRA's social impact workshop.
